I did have a good time but I do not think I will return to the Barcelo for a 3 time. parasailing, scuba diving, the zip line.all wonderful/great! What was wonderful was the on-site swim with the Dolphins. Shopping at the market at the resort was a joke, jewelry was extremely overpriced. 7 nights we only could book 3 nights.at the seafood restaurant waited all week, their main selection was the lobster and of course, they ran out! It seemed they were always running out!.also food room service was unavailable to us because we had booked via Expedia. The dine-dinner restaurants were always booked and had a long wait to make a reservation. The selection was limited, at the buffet, they seemed never to have shrimp and if they did it was always unpeeled. NOW the BUT food selection has taken a downturn. Me and my friends (a group of 20 people) paid for All Inclusive to stayed at Maya Barclo Palace for 7 days, but sadly, it’s not All Inclusive like before, and the resort lost power every night, the longest time is 5 hrs at night. The swim up bars had a good selection of different drinks Staff is friendly and the rooms are very nice & clean. The place is beautiful and the pool & ocean is wonderful. This was the second time I had stayed at the resort. Also many bathrooms throughout the hotel never had hand soap. Also, the bar tender at this all adults pool sometimes did not want to give us a bed, when there were clearly multiple available, unless we gave him a tip. This pool has some beds available that are covered with a straw roof, although you have to get there at 9am when the pool opens to reserve the beds for the price of twenty US dollars per day. One last thing that was very annoying and rude is that there is one quiet all adults pool at Barcelo Palace. In my opinion the buffets are much better and the male waiters at the buffets are wonderful. Also the restaurants could use some better food and more staff considering the hotel acts like they are so exclusive. There are very limited reservations available, we were only able to try four restaurants in the 8 days we were there. Another issue is all the restaurants besides the buffets, require reservations days ahead of time. They also charge you extra for room service, it is not all inclusive for room service. I was even more upset afterwards because there’s no other food available, especially for a vegetarian, after 10pm at the hotel. I was very upset because the women at the front door of Hacienda were very rude and would not let me inside to just grab a plate of food quickly. One issue I had one evening is that I arrived to the buffet at 9:45pm and they would not let me inside to eat because it closes at 10pm.
